Model Behaviour under High Waves

This is the third of three model tests carried out to compare the effects of wave height.

In this case the waves are of the heighest form applied.

As can be seen the drainage arrays are in place, thereby indicating that berms are receiving the benefit of inwardly directed Seepage Forces.

Here there can be seen significant erosion of the berm crest, with that sand being redeposited on the downstream slope. Otherwise there is no enduring embankment instability or other distress.
